In our newsletters we've highlighted folks we work with in the community, our staff, and now we bring to you our very first *drumroll please* partner highlight!
The quote in our newsletter this month is from Coretta Scott King, "The greatness of a community is most accurately measured by the compassionate actions of its members." Our work is made more impactful due to the compassion and work of organizations that work alongside us, like Furnish Hope!
Furnish Hope provides essential home furnishings to those in need throughout Central Oregon, often furnishing entire homes with all the necessities for folks that have experienced homelessness and housing insecurity. Not only does Furnish Hope collect and store donations of home furnishings, they deliver these household essentials to individuals and families that are transitioning into stable, affordable housing.
As you can probably tell, Furnish Hope is usually our first referral at Thrive after we have helped folks secure sustainable housing! A lot of folks we work with that are in need of affordable housing have experienced homelessness or housing insecurity - meaning they have had to give up furnishings they may have had in the past. Because of Furnish Hope, families are able to live comfortably in their new homes shortly after move-in!
We know so many households that are so grateful to Furnish Hope for their assistance and compassion - and are thankful to have them in the community with us 💗
Furnish Hope operates on a referral basis, working with 56 community partners like Thrive. Once referred, they connect directly with the household to better understand their needs; the family pays nothing, and in turn, receives the gift of hope, a sense of belonging and a furnished place to call home.
Furnish Hope is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that started with a vision where the most marginalized families in our community would have a place to call home including beds to sleep in and tables to gather around. Now, a team of volunteers, donors, business and agency partners are helping fulfill this vision by sharing hope and the comforts of home with families in need on a weekly basis.
Hi Carol! We are so sorry that you had a bad experience. Email us directly at hello@furnishhope.com and we will work with you to make it right!
Let the receiver beware!! While Furnish Hope means well, there have been many, many deliveries that absolutely belong in the dump. Rodent feces, body stain, sweat and odor, disgusting upholstery that needs professional cleaning (due to expense wouldn't be an option to their clientele) and dangerous/broken small appliances or other items. Only top mattress or box-spring delivered not both, with urine & food stains on them. One of the Coordinators refusing to have furniture picked up that was delivered in this condition. All is not well in this non-profit organization, which deserves investigating.
